ZHOU Xinming (周欣明)

Male, 16, student at the technical school of the Beijing Xuehua Electronic Appliances Company. From: Beijing.

In the early hours of June 4, 1989, in front of the Cultural Palace of Nationalities, Zhou was helping rescue those who had been injured when he got hit in his right ribcage by a dumdum expanding bullet. The bullet shattered his liver and exited the lower right side of his back. He was brought to Jishuitan Hospital, but he was in a condition that made surgery no longer possible. He died at 5 a.m. His ashes are buried at Jinshan Cemetery in Beijing.

Zhou’s father, Zhou Guolin (周国林), and mother, Mu Huailan (穆怀兰), are both members of the Tiananmen Mothers.
